Just like Lucy from Charlie Brown, we have set up a pop-up doctors clinic where we give pretend check-ups for a donation. The Wee Care Clinic is a non-profit organization donating 100% of the profits to BC Children’s Hospital and other children’s charities. To begin I attend elementary schools and teach children about physicians, health and safety, medical equipment, and to overcome medical fears.
Out in the community, the young children volunteer their time acting as doctors by providing pretend check-ups to the public, checking your heart beat, ears, tonsils and giving a shot! Pretend of course, but you do receive a bandaid and a choice of a sucker, pin or button. The clinics are held in schools, fairs, sports events, community locations, etc. Over the years, we have added 1K to our goal, making this years goal to reach: $6,000 (2014).
